Circuit Map 

 

1. Qualifying

  • A short qualifying session (18 minutes) will determine the starting order for the Mexican Grand Prix.
  • No driver is to drive unnecessarily slowly on "in or out" laps during and after the end of qualifying, and must proceed at a safe and reasonable pace.
  • Drivers on an "in or out" lap must not block or impede drivers on a qualifying lap, they must stay off the racing line when practical and ensure they give themselves sufficient time to clear the corner when a faster driver is approaching.  
  • Drivers must ensure they leave themselves sufficient space on track when preparing for a qualifying lap.
  • Drivers who are on a qualifying lap are not required to yield track position to a faster driver approaching from behind.
  • All drivers must retire from the qualifying session while entering the pit-lane, or while in their garage. No driver is to retire while on track.
  • For guidelines on safe retirement, refer to section 7.

 

2. Tyre Allocation & Mandatory Race Tyres

  • The following tyre compounds will be used for the Mexican Grand Prix.

  • Drivers must use a minimum of one set of the designated mandatory tyre compounds.
  • Drivers must use two of the three available dry tyre compounds during the race event.
  • If weather conditions require a driver to use a wet tyre compound, then they are not required to use two different dry tyre compounds during the race event.

 

3. Race Event

  • The race will consist of 36 laps.
  • The race will commence after a Formation Lap. 
  • Drivers will be required to complete a minimum of one mandatory pit-stop.
  • Stewards will pay particular attention to driving standards, track limits and returning to the race track. 
  • Drivers must complete 90% race distance to be classified in the race results.
  • For guidelines on safe retirement, refer to section 7.

 

4. Lines/Bollards at Pit Entry & Pit Exit

  • Drivers must keep to the right of the solid white line at the pit exit when leaving the pits. No part of any car leaving the pits may cross this line and only move across to the racing line when safe to do so.
  • Drivers must keep to the right of the bollard at the pit entry when entering the pit-lane; additionally drivers must keep to the left of the bollard at the pit entry adjacent to the pit-lane speed limit sign; the dotted white line across the pit entry and pit exit are the track limits. No driver is permitted to cross this line at any time.
  • Drivers must obey pit exit and pit entry guidelines. Drivers who breach pit-lane guidelines will receive a penalty from the stewards.

 

5. Track Limits

  • Drivers must adhere to the track limits at all times, outlined by the white lined track boundary.
  • Stewards will take a hard line on drivers breaching track limits and will pay particular attention at Turns 1/2/3 and Turns 8/9/10/11. Stewards will also be monitoring how drivers return to the circuit.
  • Stewards will monitor how drivers return to the pits during qualifying and the race; particularly if they have been involved in an incident. Drivers are to adhere to track limits at all times. Drivers who cut Turns 1,2 and 3; and Turns 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11; or the stadium section to return to the pits to either have enough time to make another qualifying run, or as a result of receiving damage will receive an official warning on their first occasion. Drivers will receive further penalties if they repeat this action. 
  • Turns 1, 2 and 3; drivers who pass to the left of, or runs over the fluorescent yellow kerb sections on the left hand side between Turns 1 and 2, or who pass to the left of the bollard on the apex of Turn 2 must avoid rejoining the track straightaway. Drivers are to rejoin the circuit by missing out Turn 3 and rejoin the track from the left of the straight between Turns 2 and 3. Drivers who receive an automatic "time penalty" or "warning" are to contact their league admin(s) after the race following Regulation 3.4.1.
  • Drivers who pass to the right of Turn 2 are to take avoiding action and rejoin the circuit from the right side on the straight towards Turn 4 when safe to do so.
  • Turns 8/9/10/11, any driver who passes completely beyond the red and white kerbs on the apex must avoid rejoining the track immediately. Drivers are to "lift off" and return to track when safe to do so, following Regulation 3.3.9.1.

 

6. Lapping During the Race

  • Drivers who are caught by another car about to lap them must allow the driver on the lead lap past at the first available opportunity, avoiding hindering or blocking the passing driver unnecessarily. Blue flags will be waved, signaling that a faster driver is approaching and is looking to overtake. Drivers who are a lap down (backmarkers) must yield position and allow the lead drivers to pass. 
  • Drivers who have unnecessarily hindered the leaders will receive a penalty from the stewards in accordance of Regulation 3.3.7.2.

 

7. Retiring from Qualifying & Race Event

  • Drivers who wish to retire from the qualifying session or race event must do so according to Regulation 3.5.9.
  • Drivers are to proceed safely to the pit-lane, avoiding the racing line when possible.
  • Avoid hindering or blocking other drivers on track, or force them into avoiding action.
  • Ensure you have sufficient time and space to clear corner and apexes.
  • Drivers intending to retire may have to pull off to the side of the circuit if necessary, giving way to other drivers.
  • When crossing the pit-entry line, retire from the session.
